Trump on Letterman

In the midst of Rosie vs Donald, Trump visited Letterman last week to once again, tell his side of the story. The most interesting exchange:
Trump: I help somebody and she calls me a pimp …
Letterman: but you wouldn’t mind being a pimp, if everything else went away
Trump: nods head in apparent agreement.

In more Trump news, peep this interview, where Don Jr describes his Dad as “the brand” and that “there are times when it may be exaggerated, but it’s pretty much him… hopefully we can perpetuate that.”
Season 6 of Trump’s Apprentice premiered last night on NBC

Why did Trump fire Carolyn? (is it all about the hair?)

September 25, 2006 at 8:39 am | In celebrity, donald trump, media, new york | Leave a Comment

Last month, “The Donald” controversially used his signature “You’re fired” line on Apprentice’ co-star, Carolyn Kepcher, in favour of his 24 year old daughter Ivanka; critics openly questioned his judgement
Well, the truth can now be revealed and according to The New York Times it’s really all about “the hair“.
The Times quotes professor Michael Morris, of Columbia Business School, who espouces the “upward social comparison” theory, which he claims Trump indirectly used as justification for sacking his former protégé:
To illustrate this theory … Dr. Morris noted that if the public liked Ms. Kepcher for her hair style, Mr. Trump wouldn’t have minded. “His hair is not a domain in which he takes a lot of pride, but if (the public) said she had better judgment than he, there would be the threat of jealousy,’’ according to Dr. Morris.
Perhaps, if Trump had more pride in his hairstyle, the outcome would have been different. Trump dismisses this theory, arguing that he fired Carolyn “for her own good”. Trump offers a more indepth look at his decision making process via his Apprentice Blog: It’s good to question yourself before making decisions …. this sometimes produces anxiety, which is natural.”
Carolyn was very good, … I like Carolyn. What I did was for her own good.’’ he was also quoted as saying.

Trump in trouble … again

April 25, 2006 at 7:12 am | In donald trump | Leave a Comment

Last week it emeregd that Donald J. Trump “donated” over 400 acres to New York State for the aptly named “Donald J. Trump State Park“, but only after residents and local council refused his request to build a golf course.
This week, we learn that his plans to build “the greatest golf resort in the world” in Aberdeen Scotland is also running into planning and political problems:

When the announcement came last month … it was clear meetings with Jack Mcconnell had influenced the decision to come to Scotland. Now questions are being raised over whether the First Minister’s dealings with Donald Trump broke rules which require ministers to do nothing to prejudice the planning process. The Trump scheme would see a £300 million development including two championship courses, a luxury hotel and holiday properties on the Menie Estate near Balmedie. The Scottish Executive deny that Jack McConnell discussed the plans in detail when he met the billionaire last year. After the announcement, which came during Tartan Week in New York, the First Minister was careful to welcome the investment, but not the development itself. But the Green Party are calling for an investigation into Mr McConell’s conduct. They are concerned about Mr Trump’s threat to pull out of the development if plans for a nearby windfarm spoil the views from the resort. The US tycoon is due to arrive in Aberdeen on Friday to work out final proposals before submitting plans to Aberdeenshire Council next month.

Donald Trump day!

January 30, 2006 at 9:33 am | In donald trump | Leave a Comment

“The Donald” is all over the news this week. First we learn that he’s suing author Timothy O’Brien for $5bn . The lawsuit, filed in New Jersey, seeks $2.5bn in compensation and $2.5bn in punitive damages. Trump also called Trumpnation “irresponsible, malicious and false,” claiming in a statement that he is worth at least $2.7 billion. In the book, O’Brien estimates Trump’s current net worth at $250 million , a far cry from the billions he’s proclaims to the world on “The Apprentice.” and the Forbes 400, where he’s currently ranked as the 74th richest man in America. O’Brien’s argument is apparently based on statements made by anonymous sources close to The Donald, which publisher Warner Books is standing behind.
Next we read a Daily News exclusive, alledging that the The Donald, Rockefeller Group and Ford Models were among the tycoons and huge corporations that received federal 9/11 recovery grants originally earmarked by Congress for small businesses. We wonder if he’ll file suit against New Yorks hometown newspaper… story developing
